Sugars PAST LITTER
August 4th: Sugar went into labor at 10:15 p.m.. First pup was a flashy fawn female weight 13 oz. 2nd pup male flashy fawn weight 12 oz. , 3rd pup male classic fawn weight 14 and 1/2 oz., 4th pup female classic fawn female weighing 12 oz., 5th pup male flashy fawn weight 13 1/2 oz. , 6th pup male classic fawn weighing 12 and 3/4 oz. Sugar finished labor at 2 a.m. All the puppies have latched on and are nursing . All the puppies are strong and healthy. No problems.. Sugar is extremely tired and rested for hours.. She ate a nice big breakfast about 10 a.m.
August 5th: We took Sugar and the puppies to the vet for a check-up and to have the puppies dew claws and tails done.. Sugar checked out fine and so did the puppies. All the puppies had gained an ounce or 2 from the first recorded weights.. But our vet said Sugar may not have enough milk so I should supplement the puppies with 1 or 2 bottle feedings a day.
August 8th: Puppies are doing well. Sugar is being an excellent mama. She is so big but so gentle with the babies.. She has learned the routine of going out 4 times a day for exercise and to potty, then back in the house to care for her puppies. We take her outside leashed turn her loose for about 30 minutes and she signals us at the back door when she wants back in to check on her puppies. We open the door and she literally runs straight back to the bedroom and gets in the whelping box with the pups..
August 12th: All the puppies are gaining weight. Continueing to bottle feed a couple of the smaller puppies twice a day to supplement them. Sugar stays with them most of the time cleaning and hovering but nurses them mainly 2 times a day and then most of the night.
August 13th: We have had a few emails showing interest in Male #2 and Male #3. But so far, all puppies are still available.
August 16th : The puppies are starting to stand up a little and manage a few steps before they topple over and roll lol.. so cute to watch..Thank goodness the whelping box is padded or they would be bonking their little heads when they fall over. Their eyes are opening now but they cannot focus on anything yet. Everything seems to be going well.
August 21st: Puppies are traveling everywhere (they do still fall over occasionally)..They are focusing better now and are investigating everything they see.. These pups are a lot of fun.
I gave them their first deworming medicine yesterday, they all tolerated that unusual taste with just a few funny faces like "WHAT was THAT?" yuckkkk .. lol...
I also put new pictures of some of the puppies on the Available Puppies gallery page.. go have a look at how they have grown.
August 22nd: One male puppy, #3 classic fawn, has been chosen (thanks Natalie). He is going to be so spoiled at his new home. Natalie and Dana came to visit him today and placed the deposit to hold him for her. She has decided his name is going to be Enzo (Italian for Ruler of the House)..very unique. I think they were a bit overwhelmed by Sassie (our door greeter)..But Sassie gave them a chance to see approximately what size to expect when Enzo is grown, also the goofy people friendly nature of a boxer..I had to take Sugar out right before they visited , Sugar is very protective of her new young babies so by taking her outside it lessens her stress when people visit her babies.
August 28th: All the pups are doing really well. They are gaining weight and getting stronger. They love to explore their bedroom and when I bring them out to the livingroom they are everywhere.. EVERYWHERE lol.. Their puppy teeth are in now so I have started feeding them in a saucer a couple of times a day.. Feeding some baby rice cereal and their puppy formula mixed with just a little bit of softened puppy food..
September 3rd: Puppies were 4 weeks old Monday. I gave the pups their 2nd dose of deworming medicine.
The puppies are eating 3 puppy chow meals a day and with Sugar only for a couple of hours during the day and all night. She is doing a nice job.
September 6th: Male puppy #4 Classic fawn pretty guy has been chosen and deposit has been paid. Thanks Kim.
The puppies are in the livingroom with us most of the day. We take turns with three at a time either in their crates or running amuck lol..Or at least we try to.. usually it works out that the 3 pups in the crates start fussing because they see the other 3 running & playing and want to join in..so sometimes they win.. ;-)
The pups are getting so cute. They have some really cute mannerisms. I love the "whats that?" its a stance they do with one front leg up and their heads turned sideways when they hear something new. It looks exactly like they are saying "whats that?".. they are curious and outgoing. I have not found a shy puppy in this litter, I don't think there is one..
September 7th update: Flashy fawn female pup has been sold and deposit paid, thanks Tiffany..
Still available are the classic fawn female and the flashy fawn male #2.
Sept. 12th update: Every puppy has now learned to HOWL lol oh joy. They can really talk to me when they want something so there is no doubt they are in need (or think they are).. Usually hungry I am finding out, these pups have a voracious appetite. Feeding them puppy food 3 times a day now.
Sept. 13th update: Male puppy #2 has been chosen and the deposit paid, thanks Peterson family.
Sept. 16th update: We took the pups to the vet today for their 6 week check-ups and their first vaccinations. The vet passed all the pups and said everything looks and sounds good, lungs sound clear, hearts sound good, healthy pups. A little on the thin side but over-all healthy, with good muscle, eyes bright, no infections, well hydrated etc.etc....
Now the babies are limping from the vaccinations but that will be all well by tomorrow.
Sept. 20th update: I met a very nice young family the Mitas today they have chosen the final pretty little female pup from this litter.. So this litter of 6 pups have all found their new families.
One more week and these rambunctious pups will be ready to run rampant thru your houses for awhile guys hahaha.. your turn.. Your turn to love'em, fuss at'em, laugh at'em, run and play with'em.. I will miss the little buggers :-) But I think they are all going to be in good hands.. Thanks everyone !!!
Sept. 24th update: Max went home with his family the Barrys today. Very nice family with 2 young sons. Just right to grow up with a boxer in the house. When we met, Max went right to the boys and wanted to climb up in their laps. Max has found himself some boys to play and romp with and was loving every minute of it. :-)
Sept. 26th update: The Peterson family came over to pick up their male puppy today. Mrs. Peterson seemed pleased with their pup. The little boys were a little overwhelmed with the rambunctious puppy, but the pup was so excited to see KIDS woohooo lol..he was trying everything he could to get some attention from them. I am sure things will settle down a little when the pup gets over the first meeting.
Sept. 27th : The Mitas family came over today to get their female pup from Sugar and Buds litter. Very nice family with 2 children. This seems to be a trend with this litter of puppies, families with 2 children.. it must be the perfect number to introduce a pup to the mix. Well whatever the reason , I do love it when pups go with children, it seems to be a perfect match..
Now if the moms and dads can just get all the children to help with the pups (the cleaning up after, the training, and all the work associated with a pup ) things will be all good ...Yes, that's right, pups are a bit of work but also so much fun.
Sept 28th update: Natalie and her mom came over and picked up Enzo. She was surprised how big he was. The last time she saw him she fed him one of his bottle feedings, so he came a long way in a few short weeks. She was happy to finally get to take him home.
