Sassie 2008 pups blog
This "blog" page was written about Sassies first litter born in 2008.. She has now (April 28th 2010) just given birth to her 2nd litter of very pretty pups.

Running out of space to talk about Sassie and her crew..So I just started a new page. Sassie and these pupsters are going to be *stars* of this show.
The pic above was taken June 15th, Hello kitty kitty.. "come down from the safe chair and play!! "
April 21st, 2008.. we took Sassie and the pups to the vet this morning for their check-up.. Everything checked out fine and the pups tails were docked and dewclaws done.
May 8th update: This is not so much an update about the pups more of a story of their dad Buddy..My husband and I took Libby (one of our young Boxers) to the vet today we were gone less than 2 hours. Buddy was in his yard when we left. We had just fed everyone so I guess my dear hubby had left the safety latch off of Buddys gate. We know that Buddy can open his own gate so we have one of those little spring safety latches that clip thru the hole in the chainlink gate latch to hold it shut. Well anyway, we got home and Buddy was in the house.. YES he had unlatched his gate AND opened our back door and came right in to visit his pups I guess lol... Well he was standing at the back door when we got home , the back door was wide open and he was guarding the back door so our inside cats did not get out.. WHAT a dog.. a smart dog.. nothing was amiss in the house , but he didn't get to visit his babies because the babies were in the back bedroom with Sassie.. NOW someone please tell me how a boxer with their underbite can open a door using the door knob?? any ideas? I am open to ideas. lol.. Well this story may or may not help our pups sell.. but who cares.. I think it's a cool story about a bright boxer.. that bright boxer is the dad to these pretty pups.. New puppy owners beware hahahah... these are smart dogs..
May 14th update: Sassie is starting to wean the puppies now. She only wants to let them nurse once during the day and once at night..the rest of the time they are trying to chase her down .. Sometimes they catch her and will get an occasional nibble in .. So they are eating 2 nice puppy chow meals a day and loving every bite.. In a couple more days I am increasing their puppy chow to 3 small meals a day and leave it there until they are ready to go to their new homes.. Their adjustment time from mom's milk to puppy chow will be over around 6 to 6 and a half weeks and they will be getting sufficient nutrients from the food.
Puppies will be 4 weeks old tomorrow and time for another dose of the "stuff".. that deworming medicine they spit everywhere lol..I am going in with rubber gloves, long sleeve shirt, and eyewear goggles , just kidding.. but might not be a bad idea haha..
We do have a family scheduled to visit us Monday to have a look at the one remaining male puppy.. But we do still have 2 pretty female puppies available.. they are listed as number 2 and #3 in the gallery page..
May 16th update: The deworming went off without a hitch..I did not get covered in the stuff this time :-) .. Pups did develop a bit of gastrointestinal upset and I cleaned up the aftermath most of yesterday. Pup poo ewwwww lol :-( But everything has settled down now. Thank goodness.
Update on availability: female pup number 2 has been chosen and deposit is paid.. remaining female is the classic fawn listed as #3
May 19th update: Pups have spent the day playing with every toy in the toy box. Between that and chasing Sassie down trying to get a slurp of milk they are exhausted and taking a little nap. I left the crate doors open and 2 went in one crate, 3 pups went to another and the other 3 are sleeping in a dog bed in the floor.
Male pup #5 has found his new family and deposit has been paid, thanks Keisha.
Only one puppy left waiting for her new family, the pretty little classic fawn female that looks the most like Sassie in the face.. OHHHHH Laura ??? lol.. just kidding Paul.. sorry guys, this is a bit of a joke with the great family that chose male pup #3.. they visit their puppy every weekend and keep up with the webpage update regularly... They visited their pup yesterday and Laura was really looking over this female pup .. I think she is working on Paul .. but we will not push. One pup is fun. 2 pups are great fun :-) but yet sometimes double-trouble . Just ask Liz and Danny (bought 2 pups from Sugars litter ) .. They are pictured on our Families and Pups page in the gallery..
IF I have missed anyone in sending update pics of their pups please email and remind me I will get some new pics to you ..
May 21st update: Sassies remaining pup, classic fawn female #3 has been chosen. Please keep our website in your favorites list to view our upcoming litters..
May 22nd update: These puppies are hilarious to watch.. I just love puppies. They are playing and running all around my living room and also venturing into the kitchen and checking out their surroundings.. They are so cute when they start running so fast they trip over their own feet and take a tumble then jump up like "I'm o.k. I MEANT to do THAT" .. the look on their faces is adorable.. I swear they are like toddlers with their expressions sometimes..
The puppies are using the pup potty pads quite regularly.. There are some accidents and some miss the pad by an inch or 2, but oh so close.. IF it's close they still get some praise.."good potty" good boy/girl..if its in the middle of my floor, well, they get taken to the potty pad and sat down for a minute or 2.. But they are all making progress..
I do advocate crate training your pup when you get them to your home.. Crate training helps them to learn to "hold it" until you take them out to potty.. Just do not abuse the crate.. If they start "going" in their crates they were left to long in there.. Pups do NOT want to "use it" in their sleeping quarters period... they want OUT to go potty.. This is the single most basic instruction in teaching a puppy to potty outside.. Do not let them sleep in or near p p or poo.. period.. if they are used to smelling like pee or poo they will learn to not care where they go.. This is the single main reason why some potty training fails or takes so long to accomplish.
May 25th update: Puppies are eating 3 small puppy chow meals a day..Their digestive systems are working properly with no upsets..(thank goodness) lol.. They still manage to latch on to Sassie once a day but she is actively trying to discourage this now. They have sharp little teeth now and she does not appreciate the biting at all..She is playing with them and correcting them when they misbehave.. Great mom.. Pups are doing really well with potty pad training.. This will make it much easier on the new owners.. They have stayed dry and clean for 2 nights in a row in their crates.. they did wake me up at 2:30 a.m. the first night to let them out to potty. But last night went very well.. no accidents in the crates at all. I was pleasantly surprised .. Good puppies. The very minute I let them out (6:30 this morning ) they ran full blast to the potty pad area and starting "going" and "going" lol.. they were about to pop. But learning to "hold it" .. It was a traffic jam at the 4 little potty pads by my front door .. like a 4 stall public bathroom at a crowded public arena lol..
May 29th update: Sassie has weaned the puppies she could not take any more of their chomping. Now maybe our Sassie will begin to put some of her weight back on, poor thin girl, it really does take a lot from the mommas to feed a large litter of pups even though her food intake was tripled.
Pups have excellent appetites and are eating puppy chow without softening it now. They are much more active and seem to be running off some of their puppy fat.
One crate of pups had pp accidents in their crate last night. They have been handling the crating for 5 hour stretches at night with no problems so they probably just drank to much water during the night. Other 2 crates did o.k.
May 30th update: We just got back from the vets office. All the pups had their vaccinations and health check-up. Poor babies are limping around from the vaccination in their back leg.. The vet also applied their first treatment of Revolution (heartworm & flea prevention). All the puppies checked out fine. I am keeping a very close watch on them for any signs of vaccine reactions.. so far so good.
June 4th update: 10 days New families (give or take a few days ) and counting .. You will soon have puppy poo going on and laughs and lovey time that only a boxer pup can do so well.
These pups are a laugh a minute always doing something silly . Right this minute there are 4 pups in my livingroom playing "bowling for puppies" 3 were sitting there so innocent looking and a fourth one runs over to attack and play, knocks the other 3 over then he falls down also, does a complete roll-over and gets up to do it all again....
June 9th update: We have let 3 puppies go to their new homes just a little early..They are all about ready to go. Eating well. Stong and quite healthy. We will give the 2nd vaccinations this Thursday for the remaining pups, for those families that live quite a distance away and cannot bring their pups back to us for that 2nd vaccine, then after that every pup is ready for their families.. So come and get'em guys lol..
I will miss the babies , it will be a bit more quiet in my house for awhile until our next babies come along..New families just remember me , when your precious boxer pup is barking at the moon , attacking the vacuum cleaner, or stops running full blast and comes to a complete halt in the middle of the livingroom floor because they heard something unusual sounding on T.V. turn and stare at the T.V. for 30 seconds trying to figure it out (with their head moving side to side) then continue full blast on their way like "oh well, don't know what that WAS , but it was cool" ..... or having a little tantrum multiply that boxer 'tude by 8 or 9 lol and that is what I usually have going on in my house..
Gotta luv the pups, each one has their own special personality. Some are more laid back , some are "wild and wooly" and some go thru phases with a mixture of both. I do know I spend a lot more time laughing when I have pups in the house, they really are great entertainment lol. Everytime I open the crates to let the pups out to eat, play , or potty ,I hear that song in my head "WHO let the dogs out?".. so I chase 1 or 2 pups putting them on potty pads singing it to myself lol .. yes people I will be o.k. I'm really not a "crazy dog lady" lol. (well maybe just a tiny bit)..but we won't tell anyone now will we?
I hope all the families will love their pups as I have..Yes there will be some problems & poo poo to contend with , but when you get that puppy house-trained you will have a great companion dog that only a boxer (in my opinion) can provide. They are like big kids and SO happy to see you and spend time with you .. they are just great dogs..
June 13th update: oh my, it's Friday the 13th. eeek.. Aww well, just another day. Except for Chico, Staci's pup, today was his day to go on a long car ride and start his new life with his family.. He was all excited to see Staci. I think he remembered her from her one visit here to choose him. I wish them all the luck in the world. I think he will be so totally spoiled. Thank you Staci & family and send pictures as soon as you can..
Chico will be ALMOST as spoiled as Chelsea and George are with the Murfet family. And probably be a tie with Keishas pup Duke.. We met Keisha part-way in Greenville Monday so she could take him home. Keisha was thrilled to see how big he had grown.
And then there were 4 (aww my puppies are all leaving ).. We deliver 2 pups to Wichita Falls tomorrow, the families are meeting me there. One pup is going to live in Abilene and one pup is going to Amarillo Tx.
Update June 19th: So now we have 2 female puppies waiting for their families to be ready for them. Both of these families are on vacation and opted to wait until they were back to get their pup always a good idea instead of having to board the pup with someone else immediately which would just confuse the puppy.
We delivered the 2 male pups to Wichita Falls last Saturday. The families were very excited to get their pup. One family, Mr. Banton has been waiting with us since he signed the guestbook in February so it was a long wait for him, he seemed very pleased with his new pup. The other family Randa and her boyfriend have also been waiting quite a long time..
Smaller Female pup #1 (Amy's pup) now weighs 7 lbs 2ozs , nice weight gain and doing well..and Krystales female puppy #2 weighs 8 lbs.4oz.
June 28th update: We are now puppyless.. Amy, Rick and their boys came over Saturday the 21st of June and took their new puppy "Blossom" home.. I think they were amazed how fast the pups grow. The last time they saw her she was still a tiny little thing but she weighed 7 lbs 6 ounces the day they took her home..They seemed pleased with their puppy and I am confident they will love her as much as I did when she was with us. In an update email Amy says that Blossom and Daisy (their larger breed pup) are getting along well..Daisy does outweigh Blossom but Blossom can hold her own in the playing department, she was the smallest of the puppies but with a large out-going personality.. Good luck guys, and keep me posted..
Also, we met Krystale and her family half-way at Gainesville today so they could take their Nikita home.. I have already had an update email and everything seems to be going quite well. It sounds like her older daughter has decided that this puppy is hers lol.. Adorable kids and precious pups you just can't get a better combination.
We kept these last 2 female pups the longest and we enjoyed the extra time with them. It does get harder to let one go when you have fed and cared for them a bit longer..We even had a chance with these last two to do a bit of one on one training, they were both learning "sit" & would sit for their food bowls or just for attention & a scratch behind the ears.. Also their crate training was going well..
So folks, I guess this is the end of the Sassie Kayes puppy updates page for now.. I have enjoyed doing a running page on this first litter from our sweet Sassie.. OH one more thing.. our beautiful Sassie Kaye is putting her weight back on and getting most of her pre-pregnancy shape back..So look in the gallery for some new pics of her and all our dogs. And keep an eye on the main index page for any new litter on the way.. I have enjoyed meeting these families and look forward to occasional updates from them and our other families to of course. thanks
J
